About Solar Factory Petition
The Protect Candwr and Ponthir Countryside Group is a volunteer-led community campaign formed to oppose the potential development of a 305-acre solar farm spanning the Candwr Water Station and surrounding farmland in the Ponthir area. While we support renewable energy in appropriate locations, we believe this industrial-scale project threatens our countryside, local wildlife, heritage sites, farmland, and quality of life.
Our goal is to give residents a strong, united voice by raising awareness, engaging with political representatives, securing expert legal and environmental advice, and encouraging public participation through petitions, objection letters, and community events. Together, we are working to ensure that development in our area is sustainable, respectful of the environment, and in line with the needs of the community.
