On Friday 4th July 2025, we welcomed a fantastic turnout at Ponthir Village Hall for our latest community meeting. The strong support from residents shows just how united our area is in opposing the proposed 305-acre solar farm (DNS CAS-02366-F2C3K8) planned by the developer now known as Candwr Solar Farm Ltd (formerly Bluestone Court Farm 1 Ltd).
A Major Step Forward
The Welsh Government’s Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) has confirmed that a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required for the project. This milestone is the result of determined objections from Monmouthshire, Torfaen, and Newport Councils, alongside many community submissions.
How You Can Help
We have prepared three template objection letters for residents to personalise and send to:
PEDW (Welsh Government Planning Inspectors)
Your local MS (Senedd Member)
Your local councillors
If you’d like copies, please get in touch.
We are also raising funds to support:
Legal and planning expert advice
Publicity materials (signs, flyers, printing)
Community engagement activities
Details for a dedicated community account will be shared shortly.
Stay Involved
Garden signs are still available
Leaflets are being delivered locally this week
Next community meeting details will follow soon
We’ve reached out to media outlets, legal experts, and public figures – updates to come
If you know friends, family, or neighbours who would like to stay informed, please encourage them to join our mailing list.
Together, we can protect our countryside and make sure our voices are heard.
