Opposition to the Proposed 305-Acre Solar Development at Court Farm, Ponthir
Thank you to all residents for your continued support as we work together to oppose the large-scale solar development proposed for Court Farm, Ponthir.
Day of Action – Key Outreach
On 10th July, the Protect Candwr and Ponthir Countryside Group undertook a coordinated day of outreach, contacting a wide range of stakeholders, including:
Members of the Senedd (Peter Fox MS, Jayne Bryant MS, Peredur Owen Griffiths MS, Delyth Jewell MS)
Local MPs and Councillors
CADW regarding heritage concerns
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board about emergency access risks
Natural Resources Wales regarding flood risks
Gwent Police about stolen campaign signs
TotalEnergies to highlight the lack of meaningful engagement
CPRW, RSPB, and Woodland Trust for environmental support
Welsh Ambulance Service Trust regarding road disruption risks
All of this was carried out voluntarily by the committee, ensuring that every relevant body is aware of the strength of local opposition.
Legal Representation Secured
We have formally instructed a barrister to review planning laws, advise on the Environmental Impact Assessment, and prepare us for potential public inquiries. This work is being done on a fixed-fee basis, covered entirely by group funds – no resident will be personally liable.
Community Engagement
At last week’s public meeting, attended by over 200 residents, the passion and determination of our community were clear. Leaflet and sign distribution continues, and the next meeting date will be announced shortly.
